Emma Louise romped home with the two awards at the Queensland Music Awards a few weeks back. Her track ‘Jungle’ is stupendously wonderful. On first listen, I think we’ve got ourselves a female Damien Rice crossed with the husky vocals of Florence (and a dash of Dido). Sound good? You bet!! Exciting times are ahead, so read on…
Yes indeed. There’s a reason why the brilliant Brisbane lass Emma Louise won the award for Folk Singer/Songwriter with ‘1000 Sundowns’ and also won Song of The Year with ‘Jungle. Rightly so. The haunting melodies and vocals taken from the Full Hearts & Empty Rooms EP are quite stunning. Not bad for a 19 year old with a voice that holds much more maturity than her age would suggest.
There are exciting times are ahead as the flood gates are opening up for good Australian female singer/songwriters and as a fan, I can’t wait to hear more of Emma Louise. I’m hooked on what I’ve heard already.
Emma Louise is currently supporting Josh Pike on his tour of Australia. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets for the sold out Corner Hotel show, you should be locked up and have the key thrown away if you don’t get there for her support slot. I’m very jealous!!!
Check out the somewhat quite awesome mix by the fine Shepparton boy ‘Muscles’ who has done a subtle but highly contagious club remix of the the track. I’ve been streaming this all week and cannot get enough of it. Of course, you should also check out the original version of Jungle below too.
We are sure there will be plenty more Emma Louise to come, so watch this space!!!
