The 12″ mix of ‘Getting Away With It’ by Electronic was always a classic extended track that did New Order’s Bernard Sumner, The Smiths’ Johnny Marr and guest vocalist The Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant some mighty justice. Well, Greg Wilson has brought us something that’s even more special than that!!!
A good friend got me on to Greg Wilson and his edits, reworks and remixes and this one is up there with some of the best that I’ve heard Greg Wilson come up with so far. Judging by the plays this has had on sound cloud this week, I don’t think I’m alone on that one either.
If you have any Electronic at home, you’ll know that they were always a bit partial to some strings, synth or even a bit of clarinet popping up on some of their best tracks. A classic example of this is if you check out the mid point and end point of this edit by Greg Wilson. When all the other layers of beats and sounds are stripped back we are left with some symphonic excellence.
Outstanding work by Greg Wilson that should be on your playlist for December and beyond!!!
