Caan’s previous platinum selling band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool album came out last autumn to huge critical acclaim. A lot has happened and changed since then….we won’t go into the tragic stuff here.
He has been holed up for six months working on new material which certainly contain those elements of synthpop and electronica which made his name, but is also fleshed now with a wider range of influences, styles and genres – from drum and bass beats to garage rock – all underpinned with his soulful vocals.
It’s no suprise his music is so disparate, it’s in his blood; his grandfather played clarinet in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, his other grandfather played the Turkish oud.
His lyrics speak from the heart and soul. The debut single ‘Now Hear This My Friends’ released on 10th October 2011 is a call to action, to society to stand up against oppression, to make a difference.
See Caan at XOYO, London on Feb 29th with support from Alex Clare and The Go Sees.
We can’t wait to hear more from Caan and the new tunes that are on the horizon. In the meantime, check out the ear gold that is ‘Now Hear This My Friends’.
