‘I’ll Wait Here’ is the debut single from Melbourne folk artist Anna Cordell and this is one track you’ll want to get your teeth into.
With the likes of Vance Joy, Courtney Barnett and Little May rising through the ranks on blogs, Anna Cordell fits nicely with the folk trend coming up at the moment. There’s also a Bat For Lashes kind of vibe going on here too which we are absolutely loving.
I love the minor key and unresolved open chords. Writing songs in the minor seems to elicit an unspoken melancholy. The unresolved open chords are moments asking for resolution. They have the possibility of being led in a new direction…eventually this can resolve on a major chord the moment of reprieve, hope, relief.
Anna Cordell is performing at The Grace Darling every Thursday in June 2015, starting Thursday June 4. Her debut EP (produced by Dave Manton at Little and Olver) gets launched in August 2015.
Keep your eyes and ears on Anna Cordell.
