Buchanan played the last night of their four week residency at Northcote Social Club (NSC) this week on Tuesday 26th April and this coincided with their EP release on iTunes which is due out Friday 29th April.
April has been a busy time for Josh and the boys as they’ve been busy preparing for their EP release, playing their NSC residency and also have had a great supporting slot at the The Toff for the sold out Tim and Jean gig.
The crowd numbers weren’t too shabby at the NSC gig and it looks like the recent media attention from Beat Magazine, Inpress Magazine and Frankie Magazine, not to mention their growing followers on Facebook, Twitter and word of mouth has now begun to amass a following which will only get much bigger in time. It was definitely a crowd of followers (and media reviewers) rather than gig lovers who had just walked in off the street on a cold Tuesday night to catch any band playing.
The gig and performance was a great night. Buchanan excellently went through their new EP tracks and impressed the crowd with their talents. They also harked back to their softer acoustic Safety Beach EP and showcased sounds of potential Coldplay and U2’esque piano and guitar brilliance.
In between songs, Josh (the lead singer) entertained with a quality humbleness and the band came across relaxed and enjoying the moment. At one point there was a photo call for the crowd to put on the band’s facebook page (which is now there for the fans to see).
If you’ve followed my blogs over recent times you will probably know that I have been banging the Buchanan drum quite loudly since the start of 2011, and deservedly so. The gig was a quality performance and should lead to more rave reviews that will help promote both the new excellent EP and set the band on the next steps along the Buchanan journey.
Put them on your radar now!!!
