We first heard this remix when the preview of the Nightmixes EP from Owl Eyes came our YMR way. We’d heard some of the remixes before when they’d been dropping like audio bombs but none of them has gotten under our skin like this Motez remix of ‘Open Up’.
We have quite literally spent days in the last two weeks with this track on loop. It has all of the hallmarks of a classic remix that is just going to grow and get bigger. If there was ever a slick remix to go hand in hand with the up and coming Southern hemisphere Australian summer, this track is it. I can feel the temperature increasing just listening to it.
There’s something early nineties house about this remix. There’s something 2013 about this remix. Either way it is all a perfect jigsaw fit from Motez with what’s going on right now in the world of house.
Owl Eyes (Brooke Addamo) is an Australian artist that will more than likely go down better in the USA than her home territory (no disrespect to fellow Australians) but I think the US would just get her music more. She should definitely be on that SXSW 2014 artist list that’s for sure.
